If you're not a fan of licorice than the name of this candy might seem a little ironic to you. If you really don't like licorice than the name is more of a warning. As you may or may not know, I'm not a fan of licorice, but I'm really trying to change that. I'm doing everything in my power to try and love the stuff. I'm trying really hard. The problem is candies like this are making it really, really hard.

This is pretty much everything I dislike about licorice crammed into a candy that's hard and takes about 20 minutes to get through. I managed to get through it, and even a few times I managed to convince myself that I didn't mind it that much. But every so often I'd get a strong burst of licorice and salt, and I'd have a reminder of why I generally don't like licorice candies. The ending of this candy was an even stranger situation. For some reason the center was filled with some kind of liquid, I imagine it was extra saliva from having this thing in my mouth for twenty minutes that was trapped in a large air pocket in the middle. This mass of spit in the middle gave me an extra burst of what I can only describe as salty licorice water. It even burned a little.

I'm not saying that this is a horrible candy, I'm just saying that at my stage of trying to like licorice, it was way out of my league. Worse yet it was out of my league and took 20 minutes to finish. The licorice lovers of the world should jump at the opportunity to give these a try. I'm not there yet, and maybe the more I power through candies like this, the closer I'll get.
