Fruit & Nut Milk Chocolate

Aalst

How do you describe a treat that’s just fine, but could have been amazing. It’s not really disappointing, it was a decent enough candy bar. One of the problems I had with the bar wasn’t even the fault of the makers of the bar either, it was something I misunderstood. I don’t want to say that this bar was bad, but I really don’t have any reason to tell you to buy this bar either. If it’s what’s available and you really want a chocolate bar then it will be fine, but I don’t think you’re really treating yourself.

I’ll start with the problem I had, and actually it’s a problem that many bars like this sort of have. The name of the bar includes the word “fruit”. It’s not specific about what fruit it is, and that’s pretty common. When I saw the package I thought the fruit depicted on it looked a lot like blueberries. This is a little odd as the default fruit in these kinds of bars is grapes. I was a little excited at the idea of maybe have a fruit and nut bar with blueberries. Unfortunately they’re not blueberries, they’re just overly photoshopped grapes. I was disappointed, but it’s not like the package suggested blueberries in any real way. This actually made me think though, why do these kinds of bars always say “fruit” when what they mean is raisins?

The quality of the almonds and raisins (the nut and fruit) was fine, I could have use a little more of both, but it wasn’t too bad. The chocolate was decidedly average, it melt in my mouth, but not on my fingers. Again, I would never suggest you don’t eat this bar, I just wouldn’t seek it out. I’d probably also go for another bar if given a choice, unless the other bar is really low quality.
