Gummy Galaxy Candy

Bee B Brand

I think I probably would have completely passed by this candy if it wasn’t for the package. I’m not sure if I’ve ever reviewed a candy with such an amazing package, that turned into one of the most boring candies inside. It’s not that the candy was bad, in fact it tasted perfectly fine, it just didn’t deliver the fun and whimsy that the package seemed to imply.

The package features a fun astronaut in 3D with a huge bulging helmet. Instantly I’m thinking about adventure, with a cosmic theme. Space is such a great theme for creative candy, and I’ve seen some amazing examples of that. This package looks like it’s going to produce something that will look and taste “out of this world”. Instead what you get is half of sphere of strawberry gummy. The candy itself looked like a fairly dull eraser. After seeing this cool package, a boring blob of dull pink just doesn’t work at all.

Fortunately the flavour of this dull pink half sphere was fine. I would say it’s a creamy strawberry flavour that actually worked fairly well with the colour. While I was fairly disappointed when I opened the package, I was happy enough eating the treat itself. I just wouldn’t describe it as exciting or really that creative.

I feel like the creators of this candy had a really good idea for a package, but either ran out of ideas or budget when it came to making the candy. The gummy was good enough, but I’ve had better both in candy design and flavour. If you see one of these on the shelf at your local candy store, it’s fine to pick it up, but just don’t expect to be as impressed with the candy as you are with the package.
