Circus Peanuts are probably the most divisive candy in the world... no wait, they're not. In general, almost everybody I know dislikes Circus Peanuts. When I posted to my friends that I was going to review these, most people felt sorry for me. Over the last week I've had only one friend mention to me that they liked Circus Peanuts. On the Internet there is a general mocking of this candy, and it is used as an example of a really bad cheap candy.
While I will never claim that these are the best candies I've ever eaten, nor will I protest the claims on the Internet that these are kind of cheap, I don't completely hate them. I don't think I can go so far as to say that I like them, but I don't hate them either. The first plus of the marshmallow treats for me would be the texture. I say this because I don't really like the texture of normal marshmallows (unless they're cooked or added to other things), so it was a slightly pleasant surprise when bit into these and they weren't sickly squishy.
The second thing that made me happy was the flavour. Not being a fan of banana (of which these are flavoured) I was expecting a strong rank banana flavour. These are actually fairly subtle in their banana flavour. I still didn't really like the flavour, but at least it wasn't that bad.
Now for the things
I didn't like about these. As I mentioned before, the banana flavour while
subtle, still wasn't great. Also, as mentioned above, I don't really like
marshmallows, although these aren't that bad. The worst thing however is
the theme of this candy. I don't understand why one would make bright orange,
banana flavoured, peanuts. It makes no sense to me at all.
Someone must be buying a lot of these, because few people I know will even
look at them, let alone eat them. Yet they've been around forever and must
be selling to someone. I can't see myself ever buying these in the future
again, but if I was really desperate, I might just eat another.
