This is both a very confusing, but also a very simple candy. The confusion comes from the theme of this candy. It appears to be birthday themed, but the candy really isn’t something specifically birthday like at all. It’s basically just a bag of individually packaged hard candies, with the exception being that there’s a toy included as well. The toy is very small, made of cheap plastic and extremely unsafe for just about anyone. It’s basically a small projectile launcher, and the rocket that launches from it has a sharp tip on the end. The missile launches a good 3 or 4 meters and could easily do some permanent eye damage.

Other than the gift, I’m not sure why anyone would want these candies for their birthday. I’m not saying they’re all horrible candies, they’re just not very birthday themed. You may have noticed that I used the word “all” in the last sentence, and it’s for a very good reason. There are 4 flavours of hard candies in this bag, each with a hard candy shell and slightly chewy candy centre. The 4 flavours are strawberry, orange, mango and “raw mango”. The strawberry and orange flavoured candies are pretty much what you would expect, fake flavours but tasty enough.

The mango flavours are the two that are really odd and unique with these hard candies. Mango flavoured candies are rare enough, but raw mango is something I’ve never seen before. My guess is that the regular mango is supposed to be ripe mango and the raw mango is supposed to be unripe mango. For all intent and purposes the regular mango is pretty good, I might even call it the highlight of this bag of candy. The green mango on the other hand is kind of weird. It starts off promising, but it quickly turns into a kind of perfume flavoured treat. I was expecting something sour, but instead it’s kind of fruity, but also perfume mixed with a slight bitter soap.

I can’t say I love these candies, but the mango one is pretty good. The raw mango brings up a good idea, candies based on unripe fruits, but I just don’t think they made it work very well. I will continue to play with my rocket launcher toy, at last until I break it or lose an eye.
