There are two words on the package of this candy that convinced me to buy it, and those words are “fruity fudge”. I’ve never seen the words fruity fudge used to describe a candy before, so I wasn’t really sure what to expect. My imagination went in many directions, and while my main assumptions was correct, the idea of a classic fudge but grape really appealed to me. The reality is that this is just a grape gummy candy. I would rank the texture somewhere in the realm of soft jelly, but I wouldn’t really describe this as a fudge.

It’s funny because the mystery of what a fruity fudge might be hid the other unique thing about this treat, and that’s the shape. I never really thought much about how one could present a gummy candy with a hero theme, but the folks at Youli certainly gave it a try. Inside this bag is one giant purple gummy in the shape of a human. I would say that the detail isn’t great, but it’s certainly recognizable. The odd feature is that this purple human is stuck on a small plastic stick. This meant that the first bite I had to take was of the head. This didn’t really make my treat very heroic, but it was unique.

There are a few very odd things about this treat, which is interesting because you’re basically just eating a grape gummy. The gummy itself is fine, the texture is nice and soft and the flavour is that classic fake grape flavour. I’m not sure if I would define this candy as heroic, but it did entertain me for a few minutes as a peeled away the many mysteries that were presented to me.
