The biggest problem I had with this gummy treat is understanding how to eat it. The basic concept is simple, you’re given a pen full of what appears to be some kind of sour liquid, and a bunch of gummies with little indentations that allow you to fill them up with the liquid from the pen. Getting the liquid on the gummies is easy, but knowing how much of the liquid to add is the problem. The package kind of implies that you should really squirt it on, but it also implies that it’s really sour too. It doesn’t actually say that it’s sour, but the graphics imply that it should be sour.
I decided to be scientific about this and start with no sour gel and work my way up. I had 14 gummies and my last one was pretty full. The biggest problem with this candy is how un-sour it actually is. I would say the first handful of these that I tried were not sour at all. I was kind of happy about this at first, since it went along with the theme of the candy. I assumed that the gummies wouldn’t be sour and only the gel would give these the sour kick, and I was right. What I was disappointed about is how much of the gel it really takes before these get sour. While my methods weren’t that scientific, I would guess you should put about 7 or 8 small drops in to start. Even at 13 drops it wasn’t that strong. Honestly, I decided to try some of the sour stuff on its own and it wasn’t that powerful.
I did enjoy these gummies, even though they really weren’t sour enough for me. The taste and texture of both the gel and gummies is really good. The strawberry flavour is kind of fake but still tasty enough. The texture of the gummies is nice and soft, and the gel isn’t too runny. While I would love to see them amp up the sour a bit, I had fun eating these and they tasted pretty good too.
