This strawberry Kit Kat bar has created a bit of a conundrum. I’m not really sure if this particular strawberry Kit Kat is successful. More to the point, I don’t know if this bar has really achieved a Strawberry Short Cake, at least compared to some of the other strawberry Kit Kat bars I’ve tried in the past. So far I’ve tried two strawberry cheesecake Kit Kat bars, and one that was just strawberry. The plain strawberry Kit Kat was at least made with milk chocolate, so it seem kind of unique, but the cheesecake varieties were both made with white chocolate, like this bar.
I guess what I’m saying is, I wonder how many desserts one could connect to a white chocolate Kit Kat bar with a strawberry flavour. At first bite I would say that this bar has managed to emulate a strawberry short cake. The wafers simulate the cake a little bit and the white chocolate could represent the cream. The strawberry flavour is nice, and it blends well with the other two ingredients, just like a nice slice of strawberry short cake. The thing is, if you named this bar strawberry cheese cake, I might say exactly the same thing.
It’s been a while since I’ve had my strawberry cheesecake Kit Kat bars, so I can’t really compare them, but I feel like these various Kit Kat bars could be interchangeable. As an eating experience, I think anyone would enjoy these bars, and would probably be satisfied that Nestle is making an attempt to emulate a strawberry short cake, but I just feel like I could also call this a cheesecake as well, and maybe I’ve already eaten the same bar with a different wrapper.
This is probably a problem reserved for people like me who over analyze every sweet treat they eat. Independent of the other strawberry Kit Kat bars, this one is a big success, and tastes great. I would highly recommend you pick it up, particularly if you like strawberries, maybe even if you love strawberry short cake.
