I don't have cable and I don't really keep up with trailers for movies, so I don't really know why in the world Transformers and peanut butter and jam have anything in common. I mentioned the first two because I wanted to make it clear that if some kind of cross promotion commercial was happening, you'd know that I know nothing about it. I also don't understand why the orange guy on the package has one gold tooth either but I figure it's pretty irrelevant to anything and so I'll just ignore it.
What I can't ignore is the wording on the name of this treat. I can't ignore it because it has a whole lot to do with why I was totally disappointed with these M&Ms. The word in particular that bothers me is "flavour"; it bothers me because the use of just a "flavour" ruined this snack. The peanut butter is real, and as with the regular peanut butter M&M's it's just fine, good ratio of ingredients and also pretty tasty. The problem with these M&Ms comes with the jam.
First and foremost, I should tell you that there is absolutely no "jam" in these at all. There is however a really fake strawberry flavour that is so strong and overwhelming that it takes out almost every other flavour found in these M&Ms. The strawberry is pretty lousy and because it's so strong these M&Ms are just not that great. Peanut butter can be a really subtle flavour and matching it with a super strong fake (and horrible) strawberry flavour does it no justice at all. I don't know how or if it could be done, but if they could use some kind of real strawberry jam or even a strawberry cream it would have been so much better.
