Manija XL "Peanut"

Karuna

This bar represents one of my candy industry pet peeves, and it all circles around the Snickers Bar. Now don't get me wrong, I love Snickers bars, in fact they're one of my “go to” bars when I want a simple snack. My problems are that just about every single candy company in the world appears to have a chocolate bar that is pretty much just a carbon copy of the Snickers bar. For the most part I actually try to avoid these treats, if I suspect that a bar might be a copy of a Snickers bar, I probably won't review it.

Unfortunately, this bar tricked me. I thought it might be something different, mostly due to its shape and size, but I was horribly deceived. I should note that it might be slightly my own fault as well. The Manija does come in two other varieties, coconut and almond, and I picked the peanut. Maybe if I got the coconut or almond version, I wouldn’t have eaten a carbon copy of the Snickers bar. I might have even discovered that Snickers should consider using different ingredients now and again. But even so, I don't think I should be punished because I happen to enjoy peanuts.

I guess I can say that this bar is fairly tasty, a nice size, and a good balance between all of the ingredients. However, I would say exactly the same thing about the Snickers bar too, so I think I have to score this pretty low in the “novelty” department. I’m disappointed right now, and I might have to see if I can find the coconut version of the Manija for a better review.
