Marabou "Drom Krisp"

Marabou

When I bought this bar, I had no idea what “drom” meant. After eating it and before starting this review I decided it might be worth looking up. According to Google translate drom means dream. I’ll be honest, this only confuses things for me even more while I try and write this review. I was hoping that drom described some kind of ingredient, or maybe a texture, not some abstract concept. The only connection I can make is that the crispy texture of this bar is also kind of abstract.

I’m not sure I would even describe the texture of this as crispy at all, more like a layer of grittiness. Mostly this bar is smooth, creamy, and actually pretty tasty. The flavour is of a fine creamy milk chocolate. I’m not sure what flavour the white cream in the middle is supposed to be, but it really just seems to act as a creaminess enhancer for the milk chocolate. Somewhere in that white cream is also whatever is making this bar “crispy”, or more to the point, kind of gritty.

When a bar describes itself as crispy, I expect something that actually has a bite to it. In some occasions maybe even an audible crunch should be heard. This crispiness is so subtle that it really just feels like someone accidentally dropped some sand sized bits of sugar into the mixture. Fortunately the high quality of the other two ingredients made this a pleasurable experience, but Marabou offers other bars with just these types of ingredients already. What I feel like you’re getting hear is a little extra grit for you chocolate bar, and no one wants that.
