Does anyone know what a “Dragee” is? I ask because on the description written on this package it claims that there are Dragee candies in it. I assume that they’re the small round candies sprinkled on the top that look something like (Canadian) Smarties or M&Ms. It’s not really that important, but I’m curious if they sell these Dragee separately, and if they’re a popular treat somewhere. To be honest, all you have to know about this bar is that it’s tasty and fairly cute. Visually and texture wise I would say that this is a very cookie forward bar, but flavour wise it’s very creamy and chocolaty.
I feel like most of the cream comes from a combination of the cream layer and the smoothness of the chocolate. It should also be noted that the Dragee are filled with chocolate as well. I’m not really sure how much the cream influenced the creamy flavour, only because it was a fairly thin layer of cream sandwiched between the chocolate and cookie. The chocolate could have been pulling a lot of the creamy weight as well. The candies didn’t really add much to this bar taste wise. Texture wise it was just a bit of extra crunch, but the candies did make the cookie a little prettier.
The cookie was fairly plain, I might have preferred a more buttery cookie, but it didn’t ruin any of the other ingredients. For the most part the cookie just played the role of holding this treat together, and adding a little crunch.
There’s nothing ground breaking about this bar, but it manages to work well enough and still be cute. I’m not sure if Papita means anything, but for now I’ll always associate it with a charming little cookie covered in Dragee.
