These gummies are very random, but they’re also not very random at the same time. The random part of these gummies is the shapes. I got everything from a hot air balloon to a foot to a button. I must applaud Roundtree’s in that they really managed to find a way to have many different shapes that have almost no relationship at all. It’s also worth mentioning that each shape was easy to identify and was completely different than the next. The colours also had no relevance to the shapes, so you really didn’t know what you were getting with each bite. There were a few shapes that repeated, in particular I seem to have had at least 4 or 5 buttons in this package, but in general it was a vast assortment of gummy shapes available.
The part that was far less random was the flavours, colours and textures. It seemed like there were about 5 or 6 different flavours available. That’s not bad for a bag of gummies, but because of that there was some repetition in the flavour category. Having said that, it’s not like I expected each gummy to have a unique flavour as well. The colours pretty much mirrored the flavours, so it too was limited compared to the number of shapes, but not bad. It’s worth noting that I did receive one particular gummy that was a really dark purple and it tasted amazing. Of all the flavours/colours I got it was my favourite, but also the only one that I only had one in the whole package.
Texture wise is probably where these had the least differences. There were pretty much three textures available. Your classic chewy gummy, the white gummy that looks opaque and kind of feels like a marshmallow, and a combination of both of those textures. While it might be hard to suggest that they offer more variety, it would have been neat if they offered a few really chewy gummies and a few gummies with a more jelly texture.
It’s weird to have a candy where the entire theme is “random”. Gummies might be one of the few candies that could pull off this theme, and Rowndtree’s did a decent job at it. The shape and flavours were varied, and the textures were a little bit too. The problem is in the end you’re still just eating a bag of gummy candies. Maybe if they had of included some non-gummy candy, or even some non-gummy textures it could have been even more random.
