Orange Gummies Tang

Mondelez

I’m kind of amazed that I haven’t reviewed a Tang flavoured candy before. Tang is probably one of the most common flavours of powdered drink in the world. I can’t think of any country in the world that doesn’t have Tang, and in particular Orange Tang. While Kool Aid is also very popular (maybe not as popular as Tang but close), it isn’t as associated with one particular flavour the way that Tang is. Sure Tang does offer other flavour, but the orange flavour is by far the most well known. This orange drink also has a really unique flavour that maybe not everyone in the world loves, but almost everyone can identify.

That’s what makes this, a very rare Tang flavoured candy so weird, it doesn’t really taste like orange Tang. Strangely it doesn’t taste like Orange Tang, but instead tastes a little bit more like a real Orange. One of the main differences between Tang orange flavour and a real orange is a bitterness that comes with real oranges. I would suggest that Tang might be a little tart, and very sweet, but not really bitter. These on the other hand are fairly sweet, not that tart, but also have a hint of bitterness.

It’s hard to say if that difference in flavour is a plus or minus. While I would argue that a real orange flavoured gummy would be a nice treat to have, the bag did say Tang on it so there are certain expectations. I certainly didn’t hate these gummies because of it, I just find it weird because I’ve actually eaten several gummies in my life that taste exactly like Tang, but the one time I get a bag labelled with the word “Tang”, it doesn’t really match up.
