Twin Eggs

Cremo

When I decided to review this treat, one thought went through my mind, “there’s no way it’s egg flavoured”. Let me just get this out in the open, it is egg flavoured. If I thought about it just a little bit I would have not thought that there was no chance of it being egg flavoured, mostly because I bought it in Thailand, a place crazy about salted egg treats. You can get just about any savoury or sweet treat with a salted egg spin, so it totally makes sense that they would have a salted egg ice cream too. After my first bite I flipped over the package to read that it was in fact egg flavoured, and even has real egg in it.

I can also add that I knew it was real egg flavoured the minute I bit into it. I’ve had a few salted egg treats in the past, so once I bit into this ice cream bar I knew what was up. While I don’t hate salted egg treats, I don’t really understand why people want them in just about every single kind of snack food ever made. I feel like there are certain snacks that work well with a salty, very rich duck egg flavour. This ice cream wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t amazing either. The rich creamy feeling of the duck egg wasn’t bad, and the salty flavour to balance out the sweet was interesting. I just don’t think it’s better than chocolate or vanilla.

If you every wanted to have an egg flavoured ice cream, or just experience the weirdness that is an egg flavoured ice cream, then go ahead. I can’t think of too many people who would hate this treat. Having said that, I feel like there are much better options out there for ice cream or salted egg treats. The salty flavoured egg gives you something to write about (in my case literally), but I don’t think it put a smile on my face.
