Dear almost every single candy company in the world, the most common problem with candies when I give them a bad review is ratio of ingredients. This is a prime example of just that, a simple concept that should work really well but fails because of the ratio of ingredients. Often the problem in ratios with ingredients is a lack of the more expensive ingredients with an over abundance of the cheaper ones. Even the fancier candy companies have suffered from this. However, it’s really frustrating when it’s not the more expensive ingredient that’s lacking. In the case of these Wiggles Jumbo, there’s plenty of chocolate (traditionally an expensive ingredient) but almost no strawberry.
Taste and texture wise if you eliminated the strawberry jam from the centre of this treat there would be almost no difference. When I bit into the chocolate covered marshmallow I did see a small streak of red, but flavour and texture wise this red did nothing. The streak was also really small and fairly disappointing. Let’s just say that the red glob on the package is not a clear representation of what’s actually going on. Fortunately the chocolate tasted okay, and the marshmallow was soft, so it wasn’t a horrible treat.
I don’t understand why the folks at Jack ‘N Jill would put such a small amount of strawberry in this treat. They obviously know that more strawberry is wanted since they depicted so much on the package.
Also, is there such thing a Wiggles Regular? This wasn’t a huge treat, so I’m wondering if they come even smaller too? Maybe when they expanded the treat they only expanded the marshmallow and chocolate and left the strawberry centre the same size. With this possibility I’m curious to try a smaller version.
