In order to really understand this review, I think I have to clarify what defines a marshmallow. Only then will you understand why this treat really didn’t work. A marshmallow is a chewy candy, filled with air, that often has a vanilla flavour. You can change the flavours of marshmallows, but most of the time they’re kind of a bland vanilla flavour. The best way to improve a marshmallow is to toast it on an open fire. Roasting the marshmallow changes both the texture and the flavour.

One of the problems with this bar is their attempt at making a marshmallow filling. The biggest problem being that the white chocolate bubble neither tasted like nor had the texture of marshmallows. They did try to be a little clever, they made the “marshmallow” part of this bar the bubbly part of the Aero bar. I assume it was to simulate the air pumped into a marshmallow. Unfortunately the texture was still not right and the flavour was weak. I did taste some vanilla, but it was so subtle that the chocolate took over entirely.

The second (and maybe bigger) problem was the fact that this was supposed to be a s’mores candy bar, and not just a marshmallow bar. There are several things missing in this bar to make it a s’mores bar. Most notably any kind of cookie or graham cracker. Not only is leaving out this ingredient making it less s”mores like, but it also would have added some great taste and texture to this treat. The other aspect that was missing was any kind of toasted flavour, since s’mores are supposed to be made with toasted marshmallows.

I didn’t hate this bar, but that’s mostly because I enjoy eating Aero bars. As a s’mores themed treat I would say it’s a totally failure.
