This is the perfect example of a candy bar that’s got lots of ingredients that should work together in a candy bar, yet it doesn’t. The list of ingredients in this bar is long and include chocolate, caramel, pretzels, peanut butter and peanuts. All of these ingredients are things you’d commonly find in a candy bar, and in particular ingredients that should work with chocolate. I even think there are a few bars that have these exact ingredients, but yet this particular bar just didn’t work at all.
Often when a candy bar like this doesn’t work there’s one solid reason for it to fail, but not in this case. In this case there are several reasons it just didn’t work. First and foremost the ratio of ingredients is totally off. There’s way more peanut butter than anything else in this bar. You might give it a pass for this infraction because it’s the main ingredient in the name, however the other ingredients were in such short supply that I had a hard time trying to even find them.
Speaking of ingredients, this leads me to the second problem with this bar, the quality of the ingredients. The strongest flavour is peanut butter, and it tasted a little off to me. Maybe this bar had been sitting on the store shelf a little long, but the peanut butter tasted a little rancid. Nothing to make me want to spit it out or anything, but it just tasted off. The peanuts also had a similar flavour.
I feel like the pretzels and caramel might have been a little off too, but I couldn’t really tell since I only got a small amount of both and the flavour of the peanut butter took over everything anyways. I will say that the texture of the pretzels (really just tiny pretzel bits) was a little soft too.
I really wanted to like this bar, but I couldn’t. Even if the peanut butter was fresher, I still feel like the ratio of ingredients destroys this bar.
