I’m not sure how to make this candy go from good to excellent. My one criticism of this candy is one that I don’t think can be fixed, and that’s flavour. It’s not that I don’t like the flavour of these gross looking eyeballs, I just don’t think the flavour goes well with the theme. This is a common problem with gummy candy, it can look like anything but the flavours are actually kind of limited. The question I can’t answer however is what flavour these gummies should be.

I don’t think anyone can deny that these gummies look great. Even the fact that they’re a little warped and distorted actually makes them look better. A bowl of these at any Halloween party would look great. The thing is, they’re fruity flavoured. I would describe the flavour as berry, but it’s a little more generic to know what kind of berry it’s supposed to be. If you wanted these to be in a singular theme, you’d have to change the flavour, but I’m not sure what flavour would work. The first flavour that comes to mind is some kind of sour apple or lemon. That would at least be an extreme flavour to go with the extreme look of these gummies.

After that, the only other idea is to make them some kind of gross flavour. The problem with that is then you’re going into gimmick candy territory. While I love a nice gimmick now and again, I rarely buy them more than once. After you have eat something with a shocking flavour, particularly if it’s gross, you don’t want to eat it again. So maybe they could improve a bit by going sour, but honestly they tasted okay as they are.

These are some creepy gummy candies, they’re also fairly tasty as well. The problem is that creepy and fruity don’t really go together. Maybe that’s the point, maybe they’re supposed to catch me off guard.
