Rambo Crunch "Strawberry"

IKEA

This candy had one thing working against it, that was the fact that I've eaten the regular Strawberry Rambo candy before. This candy just proves that when you make slight change to an already decent candy, it can often end up as a failure. If you've tried the original Rambo candy, you'll know that it's a tough gummy log, filled with a dense cream, with a light sour coating on the outside. These crunchy Rambos are similar, only there's no sour coating on the outside and they've also added weird crunchy bits into the cream filling.

The biggest problem with these is the crunchy bits in the filling, mostly because they don't really make this candy crunchy, instead they make it gritty. Gritty is rarely a texture I enjoy (notice I said “rarely” as some exception apply). The other problem is that the sour outer coating on the original was also kind of nice. The sour coating on the original Rambo candies wasn't that powerful, but when you take it away, as you do with these, it's noticeable.

The flavour of these Rambo Crunch Strawberry is pretty much the same as the original, other than the sour. The texture is similar, but the weird crunchy bits just make this really unpleasant. I just don't like the fact that all of the improvements actually made this candy worse.
