This stick of Bazooka gum raises a question that I've had on my mind for many years, and that is, what flavour is "Original"? Each gum company seems to have a different definition of this flavour yet most of them simply label it as "Original" or "Regular". I had read somewhere, at some point, that the original flavour of bubble gum was in fact a kind of minty flavour, and often when I get "original" flavored gum that is the direction the flavour goes in. This piece however has more of a fruity flavour. Sure, I couldn't tell you what fruit it's supposed to be, but it seems kind of fruity.
The texture of this gum is like many of the other "bubble" gums I've eaten in my day. It starts out really hard, then it gets really soft and really wet (due to the sugar I assume) but after about 5 minutes it starts to get really rubbery. This is at about the same time that the flavour starts to wear off as well. Eventually your left with a mere shadow of the glory that was your gum with no flavour and a sore jaw.
So that's really the problem with this gum, it's staying power. More importantly the fact that after the flavour and texture wear off, it just turns into a chewy piece of gross plastic. In a few minutes you’re pining for the time when you had a chewy, flavourful piece of gum in you mouth. Whatever flavour it was supposed to be.
