Every once in a while, I come across a treat that I'm pretty sure is going to do ok in the novelty category before I even open the package. It’s never 100% for sure, but I'm fairly certain that these Sweet & Salty Corn Bits are going to do fine in the novelty category, and I haven't even opened the package yet. I say this because the idea for this snack is clever and it makes some sense. I'm intrigued and looking forward to trying something that I myself can't believe anyone has not thought of before.
This is crazy, it's pretty much what I expected, candy coated, chocolate covered corn nuts. It's a strange combination of ingredients if you sit and think about it too much, but if you just eat them and take them for what they’re worth they are pretty tasty. The flavour is fairly sweet at first, but once you start chewing on them a little the salty flavour comes out from the corn nuts, and it works perfectly. If you happen to be a fan of the sweet and salty contrasting flavours, you'll absolutely love these.
The texture is the only place I can find any fault. It's not that there's anybody to blame for it or anything, I just find the texture of the corn nuts to be a little strange. When you chew them with the chocolate it reminds me of eating bubble gum ice cream in a cone. You get smooth chocolate and candy shell melting in your mouth, but you also get bits of crunchy corn mixed in as well.
