I don’t think anyone makes a bad salt and vinegar potato chip. I feel like I’m biased since salt and vinegar has been my go to potato chip for as long as I can remember. I grew to love this flavour of chip by eating fairly average versions. The only way you could mess up a bag of salt and vinegar chips for me would be to exclude the salt or the vinegar. Fortunately these chips did not do that.
Not only did they include the flavour of salt and vinegar, but the flavour blend they made is really good. I don’t know if it’s the best salt and vinegar flavour I’ve ever had, but it’s pretty close. For me it could have had a little more of a sour vinegar flavour. Having said that, I feel like not everyone likes their salt and vinegar chips to burn as much as I do. I feel like anyone who loves salt and vinegar chips will enjoy these, and those a little afraid of the burn will also be happy.
The real star of this bag of chips however is the chips themselves. I don’t think I’ve ever eaten a bag of chips that felt so much like they were hand made. They’re a little thicker than most chips, but not so thick that they’re uncomfortable to eat. The crunch is pretty much perfect. They’re also baked a little more than most average chips, to me this is a great plus. I’m always thrilled when I find a slightly overdone chip in a bag or regular chips, with these it was like a bag of perfection.
It makes me wonder, are most chip companies under cooking their potato chips? Are they afraid to cook their chips a little on the dark side? Personally I find the fact that they taste cooked to be a plus. Covered Bridge has really impressed me with these chips, this is not the first time I’ve tried their chips, it won’t be the last either.
