Alpenliebe "Rich Milk"

Perfetti van Melle

I’m going to chock the weird name of the flavour of this lollipop to a translation issue. Keep in mind that Google is not to blame for this issue (this time), on the back of the package in small print they have the flavour in English. “Rich Milk” is not really a flavour in English, and this lollipop is caramel flavoured. I figure they used the words “rich milk” either in error, or in an effort to keep the milk theme of these of lollipops. This is not my first Alpenliebe lollipop, and each one has had a milk or cream theme to them. Most of the time they would have some kind of flavour combination like blueberry and cream or cola and milk.

Unlike the other Alpenliebe lollipops this flavour is very simple. When I say simple, I only mean that it is a caramel flavour, and not some kind of fun flavour combination. It is however not a very simple lollipop as they’ve managed to make a very nice caramel (or maybe butterscotch) flavoured treat. The flavour is rich, but also subtle. The flavour itself is rich, but the amount of flavour used is subtle. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a flavourful lollipop, it just doesn’t bowl you over with an overpowering flavour.

This isn’t my first caramel flavoured lollipop, but it might be one of the most pleasant. It wasn’t sickly sweet or overpowering. I got a nice subtle caramel flavour at every lick, but didn’t feel like it was too much.
