This box of assorted chocolates is not bad at all. Ethel M Chocolates are one of those treats that takes a simple idea and does it well. I feel like too many candy companies produce really great candies and don’t get the credit. It takes a lot of skill to make something that comes across as simple, but yet still tastes really good. It takes years to learn how to make the perfect chocolate, smooth, creamy, and just melts perfectly. It also takes a lot of experimentation to figure out the ratio of say, chocolate to caramel, to make sure your boxed chocolate works just right.
I have a love hate thing with boxed chocolate, particularly the assorted kind. I can't tell you how many times I've opened a box of assorted chocolates and had to suffer with horrible surprises. All it takes is one bad chocolate to ruin the whole box. The thing a box of chocolates like this need, and this one has, is simple good quality and directions as to what you might be eating. I don’t like being surprised when I take a chocolate out of the box, and I like to know which (crappy) chocolates I should be giving to my friends. I sure as heck can’t take a bite out of each first.
Ethel M has the boxed chocolate worked out very well, and even the treats that are normally not my favourites weren't that bad.
