It may not appear that there’s very much to this little treat, but in reality there’s a lot of fun little details that I really enjoyed. The basic design is very simple, square blob of taffy on the end of a stick. The taffy looks okay, it’s mostly white with a swirl of pink. It’s very simple, but it doesn’t have anything to indicate that there’s anything wrong with it either. They make it up a bit with a really well designed package that not only has a simplistic beauty, but they manage to hide the flavour of the treat very well. I also really enjoy the name of these, Funny Stick.
The taffy itself is very simple, but also surprisingly good. When I bought this treat, I had no idea what flavour it was supposed to be. The hint about the flavour is only revealed when you take off the wrapper. However, I already knew what flavour it was the minute I took my first bite. The grape flavour is fairly synthetic, but it’s that classic fake grape flavour that everyone knows. The real highlight of this treat however is the texture, I don’t remember having such a well balanced texture in a taffy in a long time. It has a nice chew to it, but it’s still soft enough that your jaw doesn’t hurt at all. It also seems to melt in your mouth at the perfect rate.
If I had one complaint about this treat I would say that I wish I could have had more. It’s only about two bites worth, but I can’t really complain too much as it was also very inexpensive. I could easily buy a few of these in the future if I wanted.
The package of this treat is very simplistic, yet very beautiful in its design. The great thing is that it holds a fun secret once it’s unwrapped. The candy is also very simplistic in it’s design, but also holds a tasty little secret once you take a bite.
