Haribo "Harry Potter"

Haribo

I think these gummies came out almost exactly as I predicted. I figured that the shapes would be fun representations of various characters and features from Harry Potter, and the flavours and colours would be fairly generic when it comes to gummies. I was pretty much dead on when it came to the flavours and shapes. The colours were a little surprising as I expected that they would be totally random. The thing is they actually put a little effort into matching the shapes to the colours, for example the golden snitch was always yellow and the sorting hat was always a brown/red.

I kind of wish they did something a little more creative with the flavours. The basic fruit flavours offered tasted fine enough. Fortunately Haribo is pretty good at gummy flavours considering how long they’ve been making them. What would have made these great is if they tried to give them some story related or at the very least whimsical flavours instead. A butter beer gummy would have been amazing, as would a humbug flavour and maybe even a gross flavour or two. I also would have liked to see some slugs in the mix (shape not flavour wise), since jelly slugs was a thing.

The other thing I didn’t understand is why some of these gummies had the white marshmallow like bottom while others did not. It was very random as I had a few shapes that came with and without the white base. These gummies are fine, mostly because they’re made by a company that knows how to make gummies. The problem is they’re kind of generic for an intellectual property that’s so magical. Sure it would have been risky to be experimental with the flavours, but it might have been fun.
