I'm not sure what I expected from these. I've seen them at my local bulk food store many times, but I've never tried them. The strange thing about these "candies" is I often see them with the baking supplies, so I'm not even sure if these are candies, or just some kind of baking supply. The other thing I find odd about these is that I've never seen them sold on their own outside of bulk food stores. If these are just for baking, then how do you use them?
The first bite of these told me instantly that I'm not dealing with what I thought I was dealing with. I thought these might be like Smarties (the Canadian/British ones), only with cookies and cream chocolate on the inside instead milk chocolate. But it's literally just a round disk of cookies and cream chocolate. There seems to be something on the outside, a coating of sorts, but I can't figure out exactly what it is. It's so thin and offers no additional flavour, so this leads me to believe that these might be some kind of baking thing, except for the fact that there's a "Hershey's" logo printed on the outside. Why would you have a logo, as well as such a smooth outer finish, for something that's supposed to be melted.
The cookies and cream chocolate is also a little strange. It doesn't seem as smooth as the Hershey's Cookies 'N' Creme bars and the flavour isn't nearly as strong. I would say that if you're craving Cookies 'N' Creme, just get a bar and stay away from these.
