Here's the strange thing about me and wafer bars, I usual think that I don't like them. Because of this it's very rare that I go to the store and buy any kind of wafer themed snack. I have this idea in my mind that I don't really like wafer bars. The strange thing is, when I do buy them, I often really enjoy them. I'm not sure why this is, maybe I’ve had a bad experience as a kid, or maybe I feel ripped off because wafer bars are really light.
The Choco-Freta bar is no exception. When I was out looking for something to review, I instantly saw this bar, and just as quickly moved on to something else. I picked up a few other treats to review, but for some reason I kept coming back to this bar. I eventually figured that I might as well give it a try. I had my doubts in the store, but I figured I might as well give it a try.
Low and behold after that first bite I couldn't for the life of me figure out why I might have hated wafer bars so much. The chocolate coating while a little thin was tasty and creamy. The wafers gave a beautiful crunch on every bite, and the filling was chocolaty and gave a perfect balance with the wafers. The only thing I could say about this bar is that it would have been nicer with a little more chocolate on the outside. The chocolate it has is so thin that it flakes off very easily.
Once again, I've tasted a wafer bar that's really tasty, with a wonderful texture. Sure, it's not perfect, but it's well worth trying and would make a perfect snack for a day out on the town.
