Jojo Jahudky

Jojo

There are going to be spoilers in this review, so your opinion of this candy may change depending of if you’re reading this after tasting Jahudky or not. It might also depend on if you consider this to be a classic candy that you’ve eaten a million times before, or if this is the first time you’ve ever tried it and now you’re desperately searching the internet for more information about this candy. What I’m saying is that this candy really surprised me, but I’m not sure how it holds up without the element of surprise.

When I saw this candy, and when I felt one, my assumption was that it was going to be some kind of fruity hard candy. They’re hard enough that when tapped on a table they make a fairly loud noise. I thought this was a little odd since Jojo seems to specialize in gummies, but I’m no expert on this company, so maybe they branched out. I took my first candy and tested to see how hard it actually was, and that’s when the surprise hit.

Instead of being a hard candy, it has more of a jelly bean texture. I would describe it as a rather thick shelled jelly bean with some sugar and a little sour powder on the outside. I kind of liked the subtle sour flavour, and the texture of the jelly in the centre was nice too. I was not expecting this at all, and it was an okay surprise. The problem is that after eating a few more the surprise went away and I started to find the shell and sugar powder to be a little gritty. It’s a nice bite at first, but after chewing it a few times over it really just gets a little weird, and not in a good way.

The flavour was kind of lost on me at first, since I was so surprised, but after a few I found the flavour to be some kind of generic red berry or fruit. It’s really weird, I’ve never enjoyed a candy so much at first, only to be kind of disappointed by the end. I’m not really sure how they could fix it since it seems to be what makes this candy unique. Apologies if you read this review and I took away the magic of your first bite.
