This is probably the best example of one treat merging with a Kit Kat bar. In fact this might be the best example of two candy bars merging ever. While the package says it’s a Kit Kat bar, if you remove the logos and change the package, you could easily have marketed it as an Aero Mint Kit Kat bar. It’s as if both of these bars were perfectly blended. This doesn’t mean that it’s the perfect bar, but it’s making me wonder if for scoring purposes I should just take the average for both of these bars (the Aero “Mint” and Kit Kat Chunky).
The design is really simple, there’s a square chocolate bar shaped like a Kit Kat Chunky (which is probably why Kit Kat takes top billing), they they divided it in half horizontaly. On the top part of the bar is the green, bubbly chocolate from an Aero Mint bar, and the bottom is the classic wafers of a Kit Kat Chunky. Fortunately both of these elements balance out well when halved, in different ways. I would say that flavour wise the mint chocolate from the Aero is slightly stronger than the wafer flavour of the Kit Kat. However, the texture of the wafers overpowers just slightly the texture of the bubbly mint chocolate. In both cases it’s only overpowering slightly, and in the case of this bar it works really well.
I wouldn’t say that this bar is an improvement from either the Kit Kat Chunky or the Aero “Mint”, but it’s still a nice treat. If you happen to really enjoy both of these bars then I think you might enjoy this too. I feel like there are many people who do enjoy both of these bars, but I also feel like there are a few people screaming out loud about the fact that Nestle has ruined a great candy bar by adding the ingredients of an inferior bar. In other words I think there’s a limited number of people who really appreciate this bar, me being one of them. There are a lot of other people to whom it makes no sense, or even worse, consider it a downgrade.
