While this bar does not have the words cookies and cream anywhere on it, it seems to imply it... sort of. I’ve recently discovered a few treats in Asia that have the words “dark cookies” as their flavour. By looking at most of those packages I would have assumed that it was just a lost in translation version of cookies and cream, but maybe I’m wrong? It’s really hard to say since all of these dark cookie treats (including this one) have a dark cookie mixed into a white chocolate. I’m not sure if it’s just white chocolate or if it’s some kind of ultra creamy flavoured chocolate. I guess what I’m getting at is there seems to be a new kind of flavour out there, and it might be cookies and cream, or it may be something else entirely.
This bar kind of failed whether this is supposed to be a cookies and cream bar or a new kind of dark cookie bar. It fails because the cookie doesn’t seem to be well represented at all. There are tiny little specks in the white top layer of chocolate, but nothing gave this bar any kind of special cookie crunch texture or dark chocolate cookie flavour. I should also mention that my bar had a dramatic amount of white chocolate over the milk chocolate bottom, much more than what is pictured on the package. I would say that my bar was closer to 80 or 90 percent white chocolate.
What this bar did taste like is something similar to a hot chocolate. It was a very sweet with a slightly more creamy milk chocolate. As I said before, the cookie part really didn’t play any kind of obvious role at all. It was a tasty Kit Kat bar, but I feel like the dark cookie, or any cookie theme was lost beyond the wafers that are already found in a Kit Kat bar.
