I like creative candy, I think this website is nothing less than a tribute to the creativity that can come with some candy. I feel like some candy is very creative while other treats are a bit more mundane. This chocolate treat on the other hand is exceptionally creative. I was actually really surprised at how amazing this candy was, since it came in such an unassuming package. I’ll tell you right off the bat, I highly recommend trying to get your hands on one of these if you have the means.
Although it’s not totally obvious, the theme of this treat is eggs. I didn’t really get that at first, but once I opened it up it was obvious. Each one of these white chocolate treats is shaped like a small chicken egg. One could argue that the picture of the chicken on the package might be a clue, as well as the words “ko ko” which I imagine is the sound Ukrainian chickens make. I didn’t really make that connection, but after opening it up and seeing a nice white chicken egg shaped chocolate I started to see the theme.
Eggs are a common shape for candy, so after just opening it up I was happy, but not blown away. It wasn’t until I took my first bite that I was blown away. Inside this white chocolate egg is a caramel cream yolk. Visually it looks almost exactly like a hard boiled egg. The texture is also fairly similar, since the caramel cream had a bit of body to it. The white chocolate was really soft, much like the whites of a hard boiled egg as well. There are a few treats, like the Cadbury Creme Egg, that has the whole egg white and yolk theme, but this chocolate not only has it, but really pulled it off well.
Flavour wise this egg was a wonderful blend of white chocolate and almost a rum like caramel. White chocolate is not my favourite chocolate, but with this strong caramel centre it really worked to just make this flavour a little creamier. I love to discover new treats, it’s also an added bonus when these treats look and taste great. Well done Roshen!
