This little wafer bar has done something I’ve wished many other wafer bars would have done. Wafer bars come in many flavours, a common flavour theme seems to be chocolate and nuts. The consistent problem I’ve had with wafer bars that have a nut listed as it’s flavour is that they seem to never actually have pieces of the nut in the bar. In a few occasions I think I’ve had wafer based chocolate bars with ground up bits of nuts mixed in, but honestly they were ground so small that I couldn’t be sure. This bar on the other hand contains true, honest to goodness pieces of hazelnut.

The hazelnut pieces are so big that they actually give the bar two crunchy textures, one from the wafer and one from the hazelnut pieces. I’m not sure if they’ve added more hazelnut flavour to the chocolate, mostly because the flavour was a little more subtle than many other hazelnut bars. Honestly I wouldn’t have minded a little more hazelnut in this bar, both in the number of pieces and the flavour, but it wasn’t bad.

The other thing I might change about this bar is the quality/consistency of the wafers, they felt a little too airy for me. I like a denser wafer most of the time, there’s something about the crunch and even the flavour if there’s a little less air in it. In general I enjoyed this bar, it was also really nice to know that I was right about adding hazelnut pieces (fairly big ones too) to wafer bars. The nut texture and flavour really adds something great to this kind of treat.
