I’m not really sure who they had in mind when they made this candy. The only people who might enjoy this treat are those who enjoy the flavour of coffee, but only if it’s really sweet and contains no caffeine at all. It’s like all the fun of a really sugary coffee without any of the warmth or pick me up. The idea that you might want to chew your coffee as opposed to sipping on a hot beverage is a little harder to figure out. I’ll be honest, hot drinks are not my cup of tea (pun intended), so the idea of a chewing gum version of hot drinks doesn’t totally turn me off. I do however realize that I’m probably in the minority here.

The coffee flavour of this gum isn’t bad, it tastes like coffee. I don’t really like coffee that much, so I didn’t love this gum, but it does deliver a coffee flavour. The reason I didn’t mind it too much is likely because it was really sweet, so it took the bitter edge off almost entirely. Drinking a bitter hot drink in the morning seems like the worst idea ever to me. I understand that caffeine is a drug that some people like to use to get some energy in the morning, but I just don’t go for that myself. I don’t judge, I just never could get over the bitter flavour and temperature that early in the morning.

The problem here is that those of you who like the bitter, warmth of coffee may not like this gum either. This gum is basically for those who like coffee, and think that it might be fun to taste a coffee gum, but don’t expect anything actually coffee like about it except a slight coffee flavour. In other words, I think this is a gimmick candy for those who like coffee.
