Max Perry is a fine chocolate brand found in Greece. It's one of the bigger chains of high-end chocolates in all of Greece, and I'm often given their treats as gifts from friends. For the most part I'm fairly happy with any of the Max Perry the treats I’ve ever received. The chocolate they use is nice and smooth, the fillings are almost always creative, and they're always gigantic. I’m not sure why Max Perry always makes their treats so big, but it seems to work.
This Pralina is no exception to any of these rules. The chocolate is nice and smooth, the filling is creative, and it's huge. The filling in this case is a wafer cup, filled with a chocolate cream, topped with two hazel nuts. All of this covered in chocolate. This is a really big chocolate treat. I'm not sure why Max Perry seems to have a thing for giant chocolates, but I can't argue with that kind of philosophy. This particular chocolate took me about four bites to finish, and it wasn't an easy four bites.
While the large size and the quality of the ingredients were nice, there where a few problems with this treat. First of all, the nut distribution didn't really work for me. With this chocolate taking 4 bites, and Pralina only having 2 nuts, 2 of the bites were nut less. My other complaint about this treat is in the chocolate cream. While tasty, I found the texture to be a little too light. I would have really enjoyed a heartier cream in the center of this massive chocolate.
While it had a few faults, I still think everybody should try a Max Perry chocolate, and the Pralina would be an excellent choice to start with.
