Without having the Cadbury Mini Eggs that I’m used to having from Canada, it’s hard to know for sure if these are any different taste and texture wise. Because of this, I’ll just assume that these are exactly the same, which isn’t a bad thing. While the taste and texture are the same, that doesn’t mean that these are exactly the same in every single way. There are two differences with these eggs that I really liked and that are well worth mentioning.
The most subtle of the differences is one that I’m not totally sure about, but it feels like the speckles on these eggs are a little more pronounced. While this certainly isn’t a make or break difference, I will say that it does make these just a little bit better. It actually makes them look a little more hand made, and also gives them the look of a fancy quail egg.
The other difference is much more obvious, but has less to do with the candy itself, and more about the package. The Cadbury Mini Eggs that I’m used to come in bags, and because of their delicate shells, this means that in these bags they’re much more prone to breaking. I don’t know if you’ve ever watched people that work at grocery stores restocking the shelves, but they often don’t care that much about the condition of delicate foods like these Cadbury Mini Eggs. I’ve even seen Cadbury Mini Eggs just thrown into giant bins at my local grocery store. These cute little boxes that they come in, when you get them in the UK, seem to protect the eggs a little better. They also make it a little easier to just eat a few eggs and save some for later as the box can be closed back up.
The chocolate in these eggs is what you would expect from the folks at Cadbury, and that’s a good thing. The shell is nice and delicate and the colours look great. If you’re just stuffing them in your mouth, it doesn’t matter if you buy them in the UK or Canada, but if you like aesthetics and great package design, you might want to go with the British ones.
