Monster Gummies

?

This fits into the category of Halloween candies you’ll never get trick or treating. It’s probably more appropriate for a Halloween party or as a Halloween gift (if that kind of thing exists). It’s funny how candy that’s themed to be scary is rarely actually not great for giving out for trick and treaters. As you might have guessed, the theme of these gummies is monsters and I think I counted 3 different monster shapes. As a person who likes monsters, and even draws a comic filled with monsters, I’m a little disappointed at the lack of variety when it comes to the monsters available. What’s even worse is two of the monsters seem to have a werewolf like feeling about them. So really there’s only two different monster shapes in this collection.

Probably the best part of these gummies is the colour and even translucency choices. It’s probably the first time I’ve had Halloween treats that don’t include an orange coloured option. It’s nice to know that someone realizes that there are other creepy colours than just orange and purple. Well there is a purple gummy in this group, but it just feels different with the green, yellow and blue from the other gummies. I must say that the bright green and transparent yellow are really great choices for this mix.

Flavour wise I’m not as impressed. The purple tastes kind of grape like, the clear yellow is kind of pineapple, the bright green is apple and the blue is some kind mysterious perfume like flavour. My least favourite of these is the apple, but only because I’m not a big fan of fake apple flavours. The grape and pineapple were probably my favourite, but only because I couldn’t really identify the blue. I’m not sure if it’s possible, but I feel like you could have come up with creepier flavours. I also think making them sour would have been a great improvement as well. They weren’t bad by any means, they just weren’t that impressive flavour wise.

In a bowl these gummies would certainly look creepy and would fit into any Halloween party spread. Once people started eating them as well as looking closer at the designs they might be a little disappointed, but visually the colours are great.
