This bar needs a bit of explaining, particularly since its creation is of a very particular time in a fairly particular place. The place is Canada, and the year is around 2019. During this time (or “that time” depending on when you're reading this) Canada legalized recreational marijuana. At this time there was also an expression in the pot smoking community known as 4:20. There's several stories about where this number came from, or even if it's related to a time of day or not. However the culture is that you're supposed to spark up a joint at 4:20 in the afternoon. The gimmick of this bar is that it's supposed to be designed to fill the munchies gap that you often get after smoking pot. The name of the bar is supposed to represent the fact that you'll be hungry five minutes after.
First off, there is no marijuana or anything like that in this bar. Secondly, I'm not very sure that this is an Oh Henry bar. Sometimes with treats that have a modified variety, you find that the change makes them so different that they don't really reflect the original. This bar treads so closely on that line that I'm having a really hard time deciding if you could still call this an Oh Henry bar. The thing it has is the big log of fudge in the middle (or at least something very similar), it also has peanuts, but I can hardly say that peanuts make the Oh Henry bar original. The parts that are missing are the sticky caramel that would hold the peanuts together, and the chocolate coating, something I consider pretty important to an Oh Henry bar.
While I'm not sure if it's an Oh Henry bar, I will say that I really did enjoy this candy bar. This bar did something that few if any bars have done before. It treads a really good balance between salty and sweet. It does this by using really salty peanuts, and while the fudge center is sweet, it's not sickly sweet. There's no doubt that you're eating candy bar, but there's something very savory about it. The older I get, the more I like salty foods, and this bar really manages to satisfy my sweet tooth while not making me feel ill either.
I'm not sure about the 4:25 gimmick, but I can say that I really like this bar.
