Reese's Big Cup "Pretzels"

I think this might be the first time I’ve had a Reese’s Big Cup where I feel like it wouldn’t work as well as a regular Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. If you put pretzels in a regular Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup, the balance of textures and flavours would be way off. Also, any pretzel that wouldn’t stick out of the average smaller peanut butter cup, wouldn’t be big enough to give you a good quality crunch. I really feel like you need a bigger cup to house a pretzel big enough to have that nice pretzel snap to it.

It isn’t just the texture either. If you filled a regular peanut butter cup with pretzels, the balance of peanut butter and chocolate would be off as well. You just couldn’t pack enough peanut butter, chocolate and pretzels in a regular sized Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup to keep the flavours balanced. You’d either have to skimp on the pretzel, or skimp on the peanut butter to make it fit. This deep Reese’s Big Cup allows good sized pretzel pieces with plenty of peanut butter and chocolate.

My one word of warning about this treat would be beware of the salt. I feel like there’s always a slight savoury flavour to almost all peanut butter cups, but this one is downright salty. It probably pushes a little too far in the salty direction, but it wasn’t so bad that I didn’t like it. If you don’t like sweet and salty together you will hate this, but even someone who likes this combination might find it a little too salty.

This is a nice peanut butter cup. It’s somewhat original but also a collection of somewhat classic flavours. I enjoyed eating this cup, but I don’t feel like I would need to eat this again. The crunchy texture from the pretzels was really great, but I just don’t think it made up for the slightly overly salty flavour.
