Rock & Roll "Cola Flavour"

?

I always love it when I’m surprised by a candy. Even if the surprise isn’t good I’m happy, but when the surprise is good I’m even happier. When I picked up this candy, I thought I was buying your standard gummy belt in a really boring package. I have to admit that was the appeal to me, I thought I was getting something so common in a package that was really not that interesting. As it turns out, this was actually a really unique gummy candy. It wasn’t perfect, but it was a gummy candy delivered in such a way that I’d never seen before.

As I said before, I thought this candy was just a simple cola flavoured gummy belt. In fact, this candy is like a cross between the classic cola flavoured gummy belt and a fruit roll up. The texture of this gummy is both stretchier than your standard gummy, but also stickier. It wasn’t so sticky to be a nuisance, but sticky enough that it was different than most gummies. There was also something very stretchy about this candy, it was much harder to break apart than your standard gummy.

I really liked how different this gummy was, but there were a few features that seemed a little odd. The first and most obvious one is the fact that the candy is bright pink/red, but it’s cola flavoured. It feels like they just went for a bright colour and a popular flavour, without thinking about how they go together. There have been several studies done in food science about how the colour of food can affect the flavour, and this kind of did that but in a negative way. The other problem with this candy is that it was very unappealing. All you got was a long piece of paper and a very uneven long globby stripe of gummy down the middle.

I almost felt like I was eating the prototype of a new candy idea. As if someone had come up with this new style of gummy and didn’t really have an idea for how to market this gummy to consumers. While it was very unique, it really didn’t make much sense thematically.
