While walking the streets of Ottawa the other day I came across this little chocolate shop. I always like to look around newly discovered candy stores and check out what they have to offer. On this particular occasion it was really cold outside so I wanted to warm up too. Well seeing as I couldn't possibly stay in a candy store for too long without buying something, I decided to pick up a little treat, I mean it'd be rude not to.
I was going to go with one truffle but I always find that difficult because I never know which to choose. Maybe I could start a standard choice when I do reviews but, in some cases, it doesn't work because some chocolate shops don’t offer any of the standards. I decided instead to pick up what ever might be hiding in these little boxes I saw on the shelf. I figure they wouldn't want to promote their worst chocolates and hey it'd be a fun game to try and figure out what they are.
After opening the box, I discovered three little chocolate treats, one of them seems to be a little boozy flavoured, or maybe licorice. The chocolate is great, the inside smooth, but the filling is a little strong for my liking. While the filling of these chocolates were okay, I also love the taste of chocolate, and honestly it's a little lost on me right now.
The next one is kind of fun with a chocolate powder on top. The problem is the same though, the chocolate filling is nice and smooth but the flavour pf the fillings is just killing the fine chocolate. I think these suffer from a great imbalance. I like the idea of having tasty fillings in chocolates, but they have to work with the fine chocolate coating, and not kill it.
