There’s something about this taffy rectangle that just seems off. Based on the package, for some reason I thought that it would be stripped, and it kind of is, but kind of isn’t. The colour of this taffy is some kind of orange colour with hints of red and yellow. It feels like it may at one point have been stripped, but somewhere either on the assembly line or while sitting on the candy shelf, the stripes disappeared. More directly, the stripes seem to have merged, but not well.
If this was the only thing about these that was odd, then it would be okay. The other odd thing about these is the flavour. The package claims that it’s a raspberry and milk flavour, but that didn’t seem exactly right either. It felt more like a vanilla flavour, with a hint of something fruity. I guess you could imagine that the fruit flavour was raspberry, but it certainly didn’t scream raspberry. It’s also not uncommon for milk or cream flavours to have vanilla, because for some reason people seem to associate cream with vanilla, but this seemed much more vanilla forward.
I’ll be honest, other than the texture I found this candy to be kind of strange. Even if you take the flavour at face value, raspberry and milk is an odd flavour for a candy. The fact that the flavour didn’t really feel authentic made it even more peculiar. The colour was also weird, almost like they didn’t mean for it to look like a poorly mixed orange glob. I didn’t hate this candy, I just didn’t really love it either. It didn’t really deliver on what I was expecting, even in the description that written on the side of the package.
