I just want to start this review by saying that I really enjoy the package design for these gummies. I know this isn’t a package review website, but it’s well worth noting how cool it is. The name The Squiggles really doesn’t tell you what’s in the bag other than the possibility that they might be wiggly. There’s really no theme or context about what shape these little gummies are on the package, unless somewhere there’s a culture that calls caterpillars squiggles. If all you got was a bag of gummy caterpillars with an odd name on the package, then these would be fairly basic gummies.
There is however one really fun and creative feature with these gummies, and it comes in the form of butterflies (or moths, I don’t really know). Disbursed throughout this bag of gummy caterpillars is a few butterflies. The butterflies are also gummy, but unlike the caterpillars the butterflies are two coloured. All of the gummy butterflies in my package were green and purple, which is fine. I was a little surprised however that there weren’t more colour combinations, since there were more than just two colours of caterpillars.
Speaking of colours, I do have one big complaint. I only got one red caterpillar in the entire bag. My assumption is that it’s some kind of random packaging error. It could be that there’s some kind of backstory to why there’s only one, but I doubt it. Other than the lack of red and fun butterfly addition, these gummies are fine, but nothing amazing. The texture is nice and chewy and the flavours are fruity enough. Each colour does have a unique flavour that matches well enough with the colour. The flavours are not authentic to the fruit, but tasty enough.
