This might turn into another review where I’m challenged to find something to say about this bar. That’s not to say that it’s a bad bar, in fact it’s a fairly good candy bar. Dark chocolate and almonds is a great candy combination, maybe one of the best. The combination of the slightly bitter chocolate with the roasted flavour of the almonds is classic. The quality of the almonds in this bar is pretty good, and that’s important since it’s one of the two most important ingredients in this bar. The chocolate isn’t the best chocolate I’ve ever eaten, but it’s fine enough. Flavour wise it works well, texture wise it seems a little bit waxy.
This is the problem, this bar is just fine, nothing amazing but also not horrible. I’ve written about this a million times, but when a candy is something that’s not really unique and the quality is middle of the road, there’s not much I can say about it. I can’t really rant about how bad my experience is, but I also can’t go on about how great it was either, it was just fine.
This bar also had almost nothing that unique about it either. The only thing that is unique is the way that the bar is split apart. Instead of using the classic square shaped pieces to break it apart, you have these bizarre triangles. Unfortunately it this “unique” way of breaking apart the bar really didn’t work with the whole almonds, since almost every time the almonds would cross over the breaking points. This lead to each triangular piece being very misshapen.
I can’t tell you that you have to go get this bar right now. I also can’t tell you that you shouldn’t either. If you’re craving a little dark chocolate with some almonds and you have one around, sure why not. The only reason I would avoid it is if you’re planning to share, because when it breaks apart, it’s a mess.
