There were a few things about this gummy that totally surprised me. The only description I had in English was that they’re “bubble filled gummy”, and based on the picture I assumed they would be grape flavoured. The grape flavour was right on, but everything else was not really what I was expecting, but not entirely in a bad way.
The first surprise was how little these gummy candies are. I was expecting something about the size of a Canadian or American quarter, or maybe a nickle, but they were close to a dime. I would say the size of these is similar to the size of a middle aged man’s fingertips, so pretty small. The package suggests that they might be bigger so I was shocked to find out how small they are.
Another surprise was the potency of the grape flavour. As soon as I opened the package I was hit with a nice blast of grape smell. The smell was on par with the flavour, and fortunately it was a fine grape flavour as well. I feel like it’s on the faker end of grape flavours, but a pretty good quality fake grape flavour if you ask me.
The final surprise was the texture of these little, grape bubbles. For some reason I assumed that the clear bubble would be chewy and the grape centre world be soft, or maybe even liquid. This isn’t true at all, the bubble is very chewy, almost jelly like, and the centre is more your traditional gummy texture. I guess I’m just used to gummy candies with a gooey centre, so it was a nice surprise to have one that was the other way around.
I don’t think I’ve ever had a candy like this in my life. There’s not one thing about these that makes them great or amazing, but there are a few little things that make them pretty darn good.
