Hershey's Sticks "Caramel Filled Milk Chocolate"

Hershey's

Here's an idea I love and hate all at the same time. Candy Critic has always been a firm supporter in the idea that moderation is the best way to eat candy and still be healthy(ish). Don't eat a large chocolate bar, just eat a piece, also don't eat just anything, pick and choose new and great things. Variety is more important than quantity in the Candy Critic world. So, the size of this bar is a great idea, it allows people to enjoy a treat but not overindulge. My problem is I've often seen it sell for almost the same price of a full version of the same treat. I'm also not a big fan of the fact that they're just making the same bars they already have, why not try something new and interesting with the format. I can already buy a caramel Hershey bar and if I want to limit what I eat I’ll just eat part of the bar.

As far as the treat goes, it's ok. The chocolate flavour and texture is a little heavy compared to the caramel. A good caramel to chocolate ratio is not an easy thing to achieve, but it's so important. I'm sure the chocolate is thicker to support the shape of the bar, but then why make this particular treat in this shape. Don't ever let novelty rule a treat, it can be fun, but taste and texture are two marks here and novelty is just one.

Sure, if you can't stop eating chocolate and you need something to help you calm down it's a fine idea, but I would much rather suggest just buying a regular chocolate bar and eating it a little slower. That way you can enjoy a better bar, for a few dollars less, and be much more satisfied with what you eat.
