Hula Hoops Big Hoops "Sharp Salt & Vinegar"

KP Snacks

These threw me off a little bit, but only because of the shape. It’s probably only people from North America that might have this problem, but the shape of these hoops is a common shape for corn based snacks in North America. When I first saw these on the shelf I assumed that they would be a corn based snack. This was particularly interesting for me because of the flavour “sharp salt and vinegar”. I can’t say that I’ve ever had a corn based snack (like a corn chip) flavoured with salt and vinegar. As it turns out, I still haven’t.

For those in North America, these hoops are in fact a potato based snack. Probably the best way to describe them is that they’re like a Pringles potato chip, but instead of being shaped like the perfect potato chip they’re shaped like hoops. I’ll be honest, if we’re doing a comparison I think I might like the hoop shape more than the perfect potato chip shape. I’m not sure if that’s for a practical reason (like better crunch), or if I’m just enjoying the novelty of this shape.

The part of this snack that is objectively great is the flavour. I’m a huge fan of salt and vinegar snacks and one of the biggest problems I have with them is that they’re often not vinegary enough. These don’t suffer from that problem at all. The word “sharp” in the description is well deserved. I’ve probably had stronger salt and vinegar snacks before, but these are certainly near the top.

I had a really fun time eating these hoops, the flavour, texture and even the shape made them work really well. As an added bonus, I thought I’d mention the fact that these hoops are much stronger than I thought they’d be. As it turns out, I had to fly these home from a recent trip. Often when I fly snacks like chips or pretzels home (and the flight is more than 10 hours) I give a little slack if a bunch of them are broken. These did not need that slack at all, I would say about 4 or 5 of my hoops were broken in this bag, which is amazing since much more durable treats (granola bars) came back completely munched.
