I’ll say right off the start, these taste a lot like gingerbread. I might even go so far as to say that they taste exactly like gingerbread. This may seem like an easy feat to accomplish since the flavour of gingerbread comes from a mix of very common spices, but I’ve tasted many a gingerbread treat that tastes nothing like gingerbread at all. These Kit Kat bars even offer that slight burn you sometimes get when you eat too many gingerbread cookies. Flavour wise these are a complete success.

Texture wise these are also a complete success, but only if the texture you want is that of a Kit Kat bar. There’s nothing in these bars texture wise that says gingerbread to me. I feel like this doesn’t have to be the case. I feel like Hershey’s could have given some gingerbread texture as well. They could have accomplished this by either putting small crunchy bits of gingerbread cookie in the chocolate, or even more daring would have been to replace a layer or two of wafers with gingerbread. The latter may have taken this bar a bit too far away from a Kit Kat bar, but it might have been fun.

I feel like anyone who tries these Kit Kat bars will not be disappointed. They are certainly Kit Kat bars and they are certainly gingerbread flavoured. Sure Hershey’s could have been a little more creative with this bar, but the lack of creativity didn’t lead to a failure. I have a bowl of these sitting in my kitchen for some friends who are coming over. I feel like if any of them decide they want to give one of these bars a try they’ll be delighted.
