I’m getting a little tired of potato snacks, crisps, or anything that might at first look like potato chips, but isn’t really potato chips. These are the perfect example of just that. While these look like roast beef flavoured potato chips, they’re more like potato crackers vaguely shaped like potato chips. One of the most peculiar things about these snacks is the fact that the first 2 ingredients is potato (flour and starch). Maybe you could argue that they’re super potatoes, because they have potatoes twice, but once you eat them you’ll realize they’re not.

This whole issue might have been excusable if the roast beef flavour worked out. I don’t think I’ve ever had roast beef flavoured chips (or snacks) before, so I didn’t have a specific flavour in mind. What I wasn’t expecting at all was a mild barbecue flavour. One could argue that some people put barbecue sauce on roast beef, but I feel like there should have been something more. I would have even been a little happier if they were a good barbecue flavour, but alas they were not.

I don’t think there’s any legal problems with these not being potato chips, since it says crisps on the package. I guess I’ll give them a partial pass, however I still don’t understand why anyone would prefer these over real potato chips. These also left me craving a real roast beef flavoured snack. The idea of something having a roast beef flavour has been implanted in my head, and now I want to try it.
